Are you using it or is it using you?? Social Media

Let us take a case where two people are put to two different environments for a period of time, say 5 years. Let's call them A and B. Those environments are planned to reflect on two contrasting topics. Each of these environment is adorned with facets of those corresponding beliefs. That period of time being exposed to endless batters of those beliefs, will make these topics a fact for them even if they are not. Is this how human psychology works? 

Now let's come back to our real life. These days we will scroll through our phones more than we blink. The amount of information flowing through the screen is so captivating that we miss our buses to our schools and works. All the people we ever knew are at our finger tips away. We now easily know where each of them are, what they are doing and what they are about to do. We have followed our interests about topics, the people we love and admire not to miss anything from them. All this ease and we can easy replenish the quench of dopamine. 

Also, they want to pique the dopamine in our brains, for they want us more engaged in their platforms. They keep track of what we like, how we think and behave. They give us the environment we want to be in, the type of content we want ourselves centered around. Each account that a person opens is tailored for him/her and only him/her. What a magic. Isn't it so great? 

Not so fast. We each of us get information centered around our likes or dislikes won't we begin to believe what we think if the fact and the only fact? Where's the contrasting views? If we like something or believe in something, we search for those things, in google, in Facebook or any other social media we spend much of our day in, they keep this information, prepare similar contents and present to us. Now we are always fed with only the things we believe. When we read, watch videos about these topics related to our believes, we begin to take them as facts, we make strong opinion around it. It is a fact because multiple people wrote those things as statuses or made video about it. If it was not a fact why would all the people believe the same thing.

 Well, you may be right, or are you? All the believe the same thing, because you only see those people in your feeds who believe what you believe. You wont get any contrasting views on those topics the smart AI makes sure of it. 

Now lets say I want to gather some people and do some protests on the topics of my vested interest. How will I get them? I will just create some pages in face book. Sponsor them to the people of my region for a week or so. Make these pages promote the same thing in different ways. People will constantly be getting these information for a week. Their timelines will be full of these things for a week. In a weeks time they feel they indulge in those activities. They will start believing this is what they wanted too. Now I have a group of like minded people. I will do some more sponsors and promotes and in no time I will have people marching with me in streets. 

This is how they are misusing these platforms. The platforms wont care because its a plain business for them. 

If no regulation this thing will keep going on. More election manipulation, more hate. People will destroy each other. The third world war is upon us and its already commencing.

Fact is no more a fact than you believe it is
